Why reading together matters
Reading with a child is about so much more than learning to recognise words. It’s a chance to laugh together, ask questions, imagine impossible things and discover new ideas — all from the comfort of a story.
When we share books with children, we give them permission to be curious. Why did the character do that? What might happen next? What would you have done? Those little conversations can turn a simple bedtime story into an opportunity to think, wonder and explore.
And importantly, reading shouldn’t always feel like learning.
Some of the most meaningful learning happens when children are simply having fun. A silly character, an unexpected adventure or a mystery waiting to be solved can encourage children to think creatively, recognise patterns, understand emotions and try out new ideas without even realising they’re developing new skills.
That’s something we care deeply about at Scribble and Read.
Our stories are created to help children discover what they’re capable of. We want books to encourage confidence, curiosity and imagination — while giving children the freedom to learn through stories they genuinely enjoy.
So read the funny voices. Stop halfway through a page to talk about the picture. Make ridiculous predictions. Ask questions you don’t know the answer to.
Because when children discover that learning can be fun, curiosity begins to grow. And that curiosity can take them almost anywhere.
